Community support

We will work with you to empower your communities and help you meet your needs. This may be supporting you in building capacity within your community, in taking on a local asset, or in developing a social enterprise or community business. We will also work with you to better understand the valuable contribution you make to the economy and wellbeing of the region. This will ensure we develop the appropriate support, including advice and funding, that will enable you to take forward and realise your aspirations.

Coronavirus Third Sector Information Hub

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is managing the official coronavirus information hub for the third sector, which is being constantly updated with information, guidance and resources. The SCVO is also working with funders to identify the main areas where funding is needed.

Third Sector Resilience Fund

Part of a £350m support package by the Scottish Government for the sector in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Third Sector Resilience Fund (TSRF) is a £20m emergency fund for charities, community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations working in Scotland. The fund will support organisations that already deliver services and products but find themselves in financial difficulties directly as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. The primary intention of the fund is to help third sector organisations to stabilise and manage cash flows over this difficult period. The Fund will be delivered by Firstport, Social Investment Scotland and the Corra Foundation and will provide grants between £5,000-£100,000. In addition there will be up to a further £5m available in fully flexible, 0% interest loans starting at £50,000. The fund will be complemented by specialist business advice from Just Enterprise to help grant recipients maximise the impact of the financial support.

Wellbeing Fund

Another part of the £350m support package is the Scottish Government’s £50m Wellbeing Fund which will support organisations across the third sector that are providing important services for people as a result of coronavirus. £10m has already been allocated for immediate priorities and £7 million has been committed to provide around 2,000 charities with small grants through Corra, Inspiring Scotland, STV Appeal, SCVO and Scotland’s Third Sector Interfaces.  The remaining £33 million is now open to bids from Third Sector Organisations. Funds have supported the purchase and delivery of food, activities to support people’s mental health and wellbeing, co-ordination of local activity and staff and volunteer expenses. It is anticipated that the fund will continue to support those things and much more.

We will work with our Scottish Government funded partner organisations to ensure clients receive the right level of support that meets their individual needs
