What do we expect from our clients?
It is a requirement of Scottish Government that any organisation that receives any form of grant funding from SOSE provides evidence that they meet certain criteria in relation to their internal fair working practices.
We believe Fair Work is subject to continuous improvement and review in line with working practices, wellbeing and cost of living.
All our clients are offered support to progress their action plan.
Requirements
1. Payment of Real Living Wage to all workers
- This includes all direct employees of a grant recipient in Scotland who are aged 16+, including apprentices and any UK-based workers who are directly engaged in delivering the grant-funded activity (whether they be direct employees, sub-contractors or agency staff).
- Where an organisation uses grant funding to procure services from another third or private sector organisation, and workers from that organisation are directly involved in delivery of the grant-funded activity, real living wage conditionality will apply.
This would be evidenced by providing either a copy of your payroll (anonymised) or an Accountant’s Certificate.
2. Provision of appropriate channels for effective workers’ voice.
- All organisations with a workforce must be able to demonstrate that all workers within that organisation (including agency workers) have access to effective individual and collective voice channels.
- You must provide one piece of evidence of the existence of individual voice and one piece of evidence to confirm the existence of collective voice.
- We also require all our clients to commit to the progression of their fair working practices, by completing a SMART, Timebound Fair Work Action plan.

So whether you are already on your Fair Work journey, or you need help to start your plan, we can help.
The Fair Work First criteria make a real difference to people and their communities, business and other organisations and the economy.
