New partnership to support enterprising communities in the South of Scotland

Starting in January 2022, a new series of leadership programmes and third sector-specific webinars will support community organisations in the south of Scotland to develop their leadership and governance skills.

The exciting collaboration between the Social Enterprise Academy (SEA) and South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) will bring 100 people from the south of Scotland together, to share experiences with other community leaders and expand their social capital.

SEA delivers innovative programmes that empower people in Scotland and around the world to step up and effect social change. While SOSE - the Economic and Community Development Agency for the South of Scotland - aims to drive inclusive economic growth across the region, offering support to businesses of all sizes.

Learners can expect lively sessions which use activities, case studies and conversation to create an interactive learning experience. Facilitators delivering the programmes are experienced leaders of rural social enterprises themselves so understand the challenges facing participants.

Applications are now open to leaders of community organisations and social enterprises based in the south of Scotland. As places are limited, participants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

David Bryan, Head of Sustainable Business at the Social Enterprise Academy said:

“We have been working closely with Social Enterprise Academy to carefully develop this empowering programme for leaders of community organisations and social enterprises in the South of Scotland. This really is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills, leadership qualities as well as meet, and learn from others for the benefit of their group or organisation.  Participants will also have the opportunity to gain a fully funded, optional accreditation at ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership.”
